Kingsmen Earn 15th Win, Seventh in a Row; Defeat Concordia Chicago, Wabash

RIVER FOREST, Ill. — Cal Lutheran men's volleyball went 2-0 on Saturday, taking down Concordia Chicago 3-1 and Wabash 3-0.

The Kingsmen won their 15th game this season, seventh in a row, and improved to 15-6. Scores against the Cougars were 25-23, 21-25, 25-16, 25-18. Versus the Little Giants, the Kingsmen won 25-8, 25-18, 25-21. 

The Kingsmen won their sixth straight game as they took down Concordia Chicago in four sets. Logan Marks and Ben Weber led the way with 12 and 11 kills, respectively. Four more Kingsmen had five or more kills as Borys Horiuk tallied eight, Noah Rigo added seven, Connor Crawford had six and Taylor Marks had five.

T. Marks recorded his sixth double-double of the year and had an impressive stats line. He hit with a .714 percentage with his five kills and added 35 assists, 11 digs, five services aces and three total blocks. 

Cal Lutheran took the first set and Concordia Chicago fired back to take the second. The Kingsmen turned things on in the third. Down 6-2, they faced adversity. The Kingsmen fought hard and eventually went up 14-12 after a five-point run. After the Cougars cut the lead to 14-13, the Kingsmen used a six-point run to take a commanding lead and then the set. Cal Lutheran did the same in the fourth set. Down 8-4, they used a six-point run and went up 10-8. A little bit later, they added a five-point run and went up 17-11. Cal Lutheran never looked back and took the match. 

In their second match of the day, Cal Lutheran made it seven wins in a row, picking up their 10th sweep of the year. Weber led the way with 11 kills as the match lasted one hour and five minutes. 

T. Marks continued his strong day with 23 assists, nine digs, three aces, two kills, and two block assists. Horiuk led the Kingsmen at the net with five total blocks. 

Cal Lutheran scored the first seven points of the match against Wabash. They jumped out to a 19-5 lead and won the first set easily. With the second set tied at 8-8, Cal Lutheran went on a 8-4 run and snagged the lead. They coasted to the 2-0 match lead. With the third set tied at 15-15, The Kingsmen finished the job, taking a 19-16 lead, and then the match. 

After their Illinois road trip, the Kingsmen return home. Cal Lutheran hosts Hope International on Saturday, March 11, at 6 p.m.
