THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. — Cal Lutheran men's volleyball continued the CLU Invitational with a 3-1 win over Benedictine University on Friday night.

The matched opened with a tight set that saw both teams swinging well. Bendictine's three-point lead at 9-6 would end up being the largest gap of the set. A Taylor Marks kill would end that lead and the teams fought back and forth until Benedictine gained a 24-23 lead. A kill from Logan Marks brought the Kingsmen back, but the final two points of the set went to the Eagles.

Cal Lutheran took an early 3-2 lead in set two on a Jake Tucker kill. The Kingsmen would never relinquish that lead on the way to a 25-21 set two victory, capped off by one of team leader Ben Weber's 15 kills.

The Kingsmen took a firm grasp of set three behind two aces from Borys Horiuk that made the score 11-7. That lead held all the way till a kill by Connor Crawford sealed the set three victory for Cal Lutheran at 25-20.

Set four was never in question as the Kingsmen held the Eagles to negative hitting percentage. The domination reached its high point when a Logan Mark's kill brought the score to 22-9. After trading a few points, Weberbrought an end to the set with a kill at 25-12 to give Cal Lutheran the 3-1 match win.

Benedictine's strategy of running their offense through one player was not enough as the Kingsmen middles Horiuk and Noah Rigo were able to seal blocks and disrupt the Eagles.

T. Marks distributed his 38 assists across the lineup with outside hitters Weber and L. Marks racking up 18 and 15 kills, respectively. Rigo added 9 kills to his block total as well.

The Kingsmen look to finish the CLU invitational strong on Saturday with matches at 3:00pm and 6 p.m. against North Central and Illinois Tech.
