Kingsmen Defeat Dominican (IL) for Fifth Straight Win

RIVER FOREST, Ill. — Kingsmen Volleyball defeated Dominican University 3-0 on Saturday night.. The scores of the matches were 25-19, 25-20, 25-22. 

The win brings the Kingsmen's record to 13-6. Logan Marks led the way offensively with 11 kills, while hitting with a .476 clip. The defense dominated and Taylor Marks led the way with six digs. The Kingsmen made a total of 33 kills, had 23 digs, and not a single ball handling error. 

The Kingsmen started strong as they opened the game, 1-0. The Stars managed to tie the game 3-3, before the Kingsmen took control of the court and pulled ahead, 10-6. The Stars picked up their pace as they climbed to, 14-12, but the Kingsmen held the lead, 18-14. The Kingsmen continued, 20-17, before they finished the first set, 25-19.

Cal Lutheran kept their momentum going as they took the lead, 3-0, in the second. They pulled ahead of the Stars, 7-4, before they closed the distance at 12-10. The Kingsmen tried to pull ahead, but the Stars stayed right behind, 17-16. The Kingsmen refused to fold as they kept their hold on the lead. Cal Lutheran claimed the second set 25-20. 

The Kingsmen looked for the sweep in the third set and went up 6-3. Cal Lutheran's momentum kept the Stars down before they began a late comeback. The Kingsmen started to feel the heat as the Stars went from 22-16 to 24-21. Despite the Stars' efforts, the Kingsmen kept their cool and claimed the third set, 25-22. 

The Kingsmen play two games on Saturday, both at Concordia Chicago. Cal Lutheran will start the day with the host at 9 a.m. and then play Wabash at 11:30.
