Rodarte Claims 200 Breast; Rodarte, Nybo, Weiderman Earn All-SCIAC on Final Day

LA MIRADA, Calif. — Luke Rodarte won his second events in as many days and California Lutheran University men's swimming placed fourth at the 2022 Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Champions. The meet spanned four days, Wednesday through Saturday, as the Kingsmen totaled 599 points. 

Rodarte claimed two events at the SCIAC Championships. He finished the meet by winning the 200-yard breaststroke with one minute and 57.75 seconds. He won the 100-yard breaststroke on Friday.

Andreas Nybo turned in another All-SCIAC performance, this time in the 200-yard butterfly. He was the runner-up with 1:48.48. 

Cole Weiderman earned his first All-SCIAC honor. He swam the 1,650-yard freestyle. He took bronze as he clocked a time of 15:41.51. 

The 400-yard relay team just missed All-SCIAC and placed fourth. Keegan March, Rodarte, Nybo and Nick Kenny swam to a time of 3:02.80. 

Stephen Blaauw also competed in the A Final of the 1,650-yard freestyle. He finished fifth with 15:49.80. 

Two more kingsmen swam in the A Final for their respective event. Keegan March was seventh in the 100-yard freestyle with 46.31 and Kyle Denson was ninth in the 200-yard backstroke with 1:53.72. 

The 2022 NCAA Championships are March 16-19 in Indianapolis. Athletes must meet qualifying standards. A list of those that made the cut will be announced soon.
