Kingsmen Celebrate Seniors, Host Pomona-Pitzer

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. — To open the new year, the California Lutheran University men's swimming and diving team hosted Pomona-Pitzer for Senior Day on Saturday afternoon. 

Before the meet, the Kingsmen honored seniors Brandon Alvarez, Stephen Blaauw, Brenden Fuggles, Miles Gaitan, Vincent Hemingway, Winston Hewes, Nick Kenny, Nathan March, Andrew Meneses, Umberto Moreno, Andreas Nybo, Luke Rodarte and Nathan Seilers

Lincoln Hall, Joshua Nekoba and Blaauw all led the way as the claimed an event. Hall won the 100-yard breaststroke with one minute and 0.61 seconds, Nekoba took the 50-yard freestyle with 21.79 and Blaauw won the 500-yard free with 4:44.45. 

The Kingsmen took home silver in five more events. Gaitan took second in two events as he finished the 100-yard backstroke with 53.67 and the 200-yard back with 1:59.38. Blaauw was the runner-up in the 1,000-yard free as he touched in with 9:54.18 and Keegan March was second in the 200-yard free with 1:48.71. The 200-yard freestyle relay team was also second and consisted of Kenny, March, Gaitan and Nekoba with 1:27.86. 
 
Rounding out the day with third-place finishes was Cole Weiderman (1,000-yard free, 10:05.65; 500-yard free, 4:55.74), Kenny (50-yard free, 22.17; 100-yard free, 49.16), Kyle Denson (200-yard back, 2:11.74), Hall (200-yard breaststroke, 2:13.98) and the 200-yard medley relay team of Gaitan, Fuggles, Marcel Huturbise and Kenny (1:38.92). 

The Kingsmen continue their season next Saturday, Jan. 15, as they travel to take on Chapman with the meet starting at 10:30 a.m.
