Los Angeles, Calif. – The Kingsmen swimming and diving team won 13 events at their dual meet versus Occidental. Two Kingsmen earned their way onto the California Lutheran University top 10 record book.
Kyle Denson finished the 1000-yard freestyle race with a time of 10:28.25. This is now the 9th place spot on Cal Lutheran's top 10 list.
Freshman Keegan March finished the 500-yard freestyle race with a time of 4:49.63. This has earned him the 8th place spot in the record book.
To start the meet off the men's 200-yard medley relay won by four seconds. The team is comprised of four seniors; Miles Gaitan, Luke Rodarte, Andreas Nybo and Nick Kenny.
Gaitan went on to finish first place in two more events. He clenched the men's 100-yard backstroke event with a time 53.06. He also touched the wall first in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 1:58.16, over one second faster than the second-place finisher.
Rodarte also secured two first place finishes himself. He finished the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 56.38, over three seconds fast than the second-place finisher. He then proceeded to win the 200-yard breaststroke by 10 seconds.
Nybo touched the wall first in the 200-yard butterfly over four seconds faster than the second place Tiger finisher. It was a closer 100-yard butterfly finish for Nybo but he still managed to pull ahead into first place. He finished off the day with a first-place finish in the 200-yard IM by two seconds.
Kenny tacked on 2 first place finishes as well. He bested the second-place finisher in the 50-yard freestyle by .2 seconds. He then earned the first-place spot in the 100-yard freestyle race.
The 400-yard freestyle relay team earned first place as well. Jack Caelan, March, Rodarte, and Kenny were the four Kingsmen that made up the team.
Their next meet is the Caltech Invite next Saturday and Sunday.
