THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. — Igor Lumbrano and Cesar Sagastume both scored on Senior Day, but Cal Lutheran men's soccer was defeated 3-2 by UC Santa Cruz on Saturday afternoon.

UC Santa Cruz got on the board early, and scored almost instantly, in the fourth minute. The Banana Slugs added a second goal in the 13th minute and the Kingsmen had an uphill battle.

Cal Lutheran got one goal back in the first half. With the ball bouncing around the box, it fell to the feet of Sagastume. He cut the lead in half and scored in the 37th minute.

The Kingsmen played hard as they looked to make a comeback. Cal Lutheran took nine shots with seven on goal, but could not convert.

The Banana Slugs took eight shots, with six on goal, as Cal Lutheran goalkeeper Davis Sharts made three saves.

UC Santa Cruz added to their lead in the 52nd minute, trying to put the finishing touch on the game. Cal Lutheran would not allow that as a penalty kick was called in favor of the Kingsmen in the 81st minute. Lumbrano made it a one-score game as he converted on the opportunity.

Cal Lutheran kept the shots coming, but could not complete the comeback as they fell to UC Santa Cruz.
