Sherard Named Men’s Soccer Defensive Athlete of the Week

ALISO VIEJO, Calif. — California Lutheran University student-athlete Tyler Sherard was selected Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Athlete of the Week, the conference announced Monday morning. 

Sherard (Chula Vista, Calif.) earned SCIAC Men's Soccer Defensive Athlete of the Week. It is his second award this season as he was named Offensive Athlete of the Week on Sept. 19. The Kingsmen went 1-0-1 on the week, tying Occidental 1-1, and defeating La Verne 2-1. Against Oxy, the top team in conference, Sherard and the Kingsmen defense allowed just two shots on goal. Versus La Verne, Sherard scored the game-winning goal in the 40th minute. On defense, Sherard and the Kingsmen shutout the Leopards in the second half, allowing seven shots on goal for the entirety of the game.

Cal Lutheran's next game is Saturday when they host UC Santa Cruz at 2 p.m. for Senior Day.
