THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. — In the 87th minute, Matt Myers scored the equalizer off a corner kick and Cal Lutheran men's soccer tied the Occidental Tigers 1-1 on Wednesday night.

The Kingsmen made the comeback and shocked the top team in the SCIAC. Cal Lutheran is now 4-2-6 overall and 3-1-4 in conference. The Tigers move to 8-2-2 and 5-1-2.

Defense was the narrative in the first half as neither team could get things going. Oxy had six shots, and the Kingsmen were held to three, but both teams only had one shot on goal.

The Tigers finally broke through in the 55th minute and took the momentum. The Kingsmen could not get the offense rolling as the Tigers defense thwarted every opportunity.

The Kingsmen defense did the same the rest of the way, holding Oxy to just two shots on goal, and Harrison Brown recorded the one save.

Cal Lutheran recorded three shots on goal with their last one completing the comeback. Christian Gonzalez and Jackson Endsley also had a chance as the Kingsmen settled for a tie.

The Kingsmen continue the season at home. Up next, Cal Lutheran will host La Verne on Saturday at 7 p.m.
