Kingsmen Unable To Hold Onto Lead; Silenced By Bulldogs

Redlands, Calif. – The Kingsmen battled it out against Redlands but lost the lead in the last three minutes. Four Kingsmen scored in the double digits but it wasn't enough to silence the Bulldogs.

It was a tight first half for the Purple and Gold. The teams stayed neck and neck but going into halftime the Kingsmen were down by four. In the second 20 minutes the Kingsmen fought back. They were up by eight with three minutes to go but weren't able to hold off the Bulldogs. After a few made baskets from Redlands and the inability to convert on offense for the Kingsmen, they lost with a final score of 76-83.

Jacob Alonzo led the scoring for the Purple and Gold with 20 points. He went seven for seven from the free throw line and six for ten from the field. He contributed to the offense with another seven assists, three steals, and three rebounds.

Brooks Mallory was the next leading scorer with 15 points. He grabbed five rebounds, one assist, and one steal on top of that.

It was an off shooting night for Mason Johnson but he was still all over the court. He contributed 10 points, five assists, and two steals for the offense while snagging eight rebounds on top of that.

Desi Burrage was the final Kingsmen in double digits. He put up 13 points, went four for four from the free throw line, added one steal, one assist, and one rebound.

Despite the lead towards the end of the game, the Kingsmen were unable to hold on. The Purple and Gold return to Gilbert on Monday to host Pomona-Pitzer at 7 pm.
