Kingsmen, Regals Track & Field Garner All-Academic Team; Opara Earns Individual Honor

NEW ORLEANS — The Scholar Teams of the Year and All-Academic Teams for the 2022 NCAA Division III Men's Track & Field seasons were announced on Wednesday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

The Kingsmen and Regal track and field teams both earned team honors while Zaria Opara garnered individual status. Opara is majoring in exercise science and held lead the women's team to a 3.25 grade-point average (GPA). The men were just behind the women with 3.18.

For a team to earn All-Academic status, the cumulative GPA of all student-athletes who used a season of eligibility must be at least a 3.1 on a 4.0 scale through the most recent semester/quarter. The women accomplished All-Academic for the 11th straight year. The men have done so three years in a row and nine out of the last 10.

Individuals must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.30 on a 4.0 scale through the most recently completed grading period.

Overall, there were more than 1,000 student-athletes and 300 teams to earn the prestigious honor.
