THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. — Taryn Faull pitched 6.2 innings of three-hit, shutout ball, and the California Lutheran University Regals softball team took the series from Occidental on Saturday afternoon. The Tigers took game one 6-1 and the Regals responded to win game three 5-4.

The Regals won the first game of the series on Friday and looked to finish the job. After Occidental grabbed game two, the series came down to the final game.

After not scoring a run until the sixth inning in the first game of the day, Cal Lutheran jumped out to 1-0 lead after the first inning in game two. With runners on, a passed ball allowed Ashley Membrere to come home.

Cal Lutheran added two more runs in the third. Mia Onesto doubled down the left field line scoring Madison Gunn and Makayla Lopez singled through the left side bringing home Onesto.

The Regals scored one more run in the fourth and fifth inning. Gunn singled home Natalie Luna in the fourth and Ariana Mendoza had a RBI triple in the fifth.

In the top of the sixth, the Tigers made their move and scored four runs to make it a close game. The runs came at the hands of Sammy Edmonds

Faull came back in and went right back to work. With one out and runners on second and third, Faull got the next two batters out and the game went to the seventh. In the final inning, Faull sat the Tigers down in order.

The Regals will try and carry that momentum into their series with La Verne. It starts at home on Friday at 3 p.m.
