Regals Drop Double Header to Pomona-Pitzer

CLAREMONT, Cal. — California Lutheran University Softball ventured back on the road for a Saturday double header against the Sagehens of Pomona-Pitzer. The Sagehens claimed both games on the day to sweep the weekend series.

Game 1 of the double header started with Pomona-Pitzer plating 3 in the bottom of the first and adding another in the second inning.

In the top of the third junior Natalie Luna, who reached base on a walk, scored the Regals' only run as Ashley Membrere put the ball in play. A Sagehen error on the play allowed Luna to score.

The Sagehens scored in the bottom of the third and fifth innings to reach the final score of 6-1.

The second game of the day, and third of the weekend series again had an early 3 run lead for Pomona-Pitzer after 2 innings.

The Regals made a move in the top of the third when Makayla Lopez grounded out to second, but picked up an RBI, scoring Natalie Luna and moving two more runners into scoring position. Hanna Booth then grounded to second as well, but an error allowed both Mia Onesto and Ashley Membrere to score and tie the game.

The Sagehens scored 2 in the bottom of the third and added another in the fourth to double up the Regals at 6-3.

In the top of the sixth, the Regals put another run on the board when Regan Laubscher singled to drive in Makayla Lopez.
