Regals Open Series With 8-6 Win; Booth Leads Team With 3 RBIs

LOS ANGELES, Calif. - The Regals traveled to Occidental in hopes of starting the series off with a win. The Purple and Gold unloaded their bats against the Tigers and came out with the 8-6 win.

The Regals took the early lead 4-0 after the first inning. Makayla Lopez tallied her first RBI of the game in the top of the first with a double to center field that brought Mia Onesto across home plate.

Following Lopez was Hanna Booth with a single to right field, bringing Ashley Membrere home for a 2-0 lead. Emily Blank doubled to left center to score Lopez and Ari Mendoza finished it off with a SAC fly scoring Booth.

The scoring picked back up in the top of the fourth with another two RBIs from Booth. An error from shortstop allowed Onesto and Membrere to score yet again. This put them ahead 6-2 entering the top of the fifth.

Lopez stayed active in the batter's box and singled to center field to bring Onesto across home plate for the third time. Finishing off the scoring in the top of the seventh was Natalie Luna getting Mendoza home.

Taryn Faull was in the pitcher's circle for the first six innings and faced 31 batters, securing the win. Madison Gunn finished off the seventh inning.

The Regals host the Tigers tomorrow for a double header. First pitch is at 12 pm.
