Regals Drop Game 1 in Weekend Series with Pomona-Pitzer

THOUSAND OAKS, Cal. — California Lutheran University Softball returned from their Arizona road trip with the fist in a three game series against the Sagehens of Pomona-Pitzer. The Sagehens took game one of the series 13-3.

Starting pitcher Taryn Faull and the Regal defense put the Sagehens down in order in a scoreless first inning for each side.

A two run double in the second gave the Sagehens the lead. They then added another three runs in the top of the fourth.

In the bottom of the fourth, Natalie Luna singled to score Emily Blank and move Regan Laubscher to third. Mia Onesto would then drive in the Regal's second run with a sacrifice fly that got Laubscher home.

Pomona-Pitzer added two more runs in the fifth inning before putting a real stamp on the game with six runs in the sixth.

The Regals picked up one more run in the bottom of the sixth when Mia Onesto scored on an error to make the game 13-3.

The Regals will head back on the road to finish up the weekend series against Pomona-Pitzer with a double header on Saturday at 12pm and 2pm.
