Regals Outlasted By Comets Twice In Double Header

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – Regals softball hosted University of Texas-Dallas for a double header but were outlasted through seven innings each time. The Comets took game one from the Purple and Gold 12-4 and the second game 5-3.

The Regals started with two runs in the bottom of the first to stay even with the Comets. The bats stayed cold until the bottom of the fourth when Mia Onesto hit a solo home run.

Makayla Lopez, Hanna Booth, and Natalie Luna all tallied a double on the first game. Onesto, Lopez, and Booth were the three with an RBI.

Madison Gunn was on the mound for the majority part of seven innings and threw 92 strikes.

Game two started with a quick three up three down by the Regals defense.

Lopez had herself a day at the plate as she tallied another double and a triple in the second game. Lopez hit one off the top of the fence in the top of the third that sent her to second base. Lopez's triple came from a rocket she hit down the right field line in the bottom of the fifth.

Taryn Faull pitched seven innings in the second game and faced 32 batters.

Booth and Luna added another double in the afternoon. Mia Antinino, Lopez, and Luna were the RBI holders in their tight match up.

It was the late seventh inning offensive run by the Comets that got the best of the Regals.

The Purple and Gold pack their bags and head to Arizona for a double header on Monday against Dickinson.
