Kingsmen Defeat Firebirds

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif.— The Cal Lutheran Kingsmen played the University of St. Katherine's Firebirds Saturday evening, after conference matchups. The Kingsmen defeated the Firebirds 9-0.

Kicking off the evening with doubles, senior Yahn Gawrit and freshman Ryan Murphy, No. one doubles, won 8-7 (2). Freshman pair Hitachi Hu and Ryen Wagner, No. two spot, added another win for the Kingsmen, 8-2. 

Junior Sebastian Ariza and freshman Matthew Quade, No. three doubles, received a victory by walkover.

Continuing to singles, senior Florent Auteil, No. five, swept his opponent 6-0 and 6-0. Quade, No. four singles, also swept his opponent 6-0 and 6-0.

Hu, No. three singles, added another victory for the Kingsmen by winning 6-0 and 6-1; Ariza, No. two singles, won 6-0 and 6-2; and Gawrit, No. one singles, solidified the full no-score victory for the Kingsmen by winning 6-3 and 6-4.

Wagner, No. six, received a win by walkover. 

The Cal Lutheran Kingsmen return to Poulson Tennis Courts Friday, April 12, at 3 PM PST, to play the Whittier Poets for another SCIAC matchup.
