ORANGE, Calif.— The No. 13 regionally ranked, Cal Lutheran Kingsmen played the No. 18 regionally ranked, Chapman Panthers Friday afternoon, and won 7-2.
Kicking off with doubles play, Ransom Braaten and Jake Haffner, No. two doubles, won 8-3.
Yahn Gawrit and Isaiah Volk, No. one doubles, added another win for the Kingsmen 8-4. Aaron Moylan and Ryan Murphy, No. three spot, fell to their opponents 8-6.
Moving on to singles play, Braaten, No. two singles, fell to his opponent the first set 7-6 (4), but came back the second and won 7-5, taking his match to a tiebreaker. Braaten fell in the tiebreaker 10-8.
Gawrit, No. one singles, won 6-1 and 6-2; Volk, No. three, added another win 6-0 and 6-1; Haffner, won 7-5 and 6-4; Moylan, No. five, won 6-2 and 7-6; and Michael Sulahian, No. six singles, finalized the win for the Kingsmen by winning 6-3 and 6-2.
The Cal Lutheran Kingsmen enjoy Senior Day Saturday, April 20, at 9:30 AM, against the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps.
