Kingsmen Defeated by Tigers

GLENDALE, Calif.— The Cal Lutheran Kingsmen singles couldn't keep up with the Occidental Tigers, falling just short with a final score of 6-3, Saturday afternoon.

Starting doubles play, junior Jake Haffner and freshman Aaron Moylan were the first to finish on court three, with a win of 8-5 for the Kingsmen. Finishing behind on court two was senior Ransom Braaten and Guillaume Ruaud, taking a win, 8-7, after a match tiebreaker. 

Rounding things out on court one, senior Yahn Gawrit and sophomore Isaiah Volk finished closely, but fell to a score of 6-8. 

Kicking off singles play on a high note, Ruaud took the lone win for the Kingsmen singles on court three (6-0, 6-3). 

Finishing next on court six, was junior Sebastian Ariza with final scores of 5-7 and 0-6; court four had senior Michael Sulahian with scores of 2-6 and 2-6; court one had Haffner with scores of 1-6 and 4-6; court five had Moylan with scores of 4-6, 5-7; and lastly, court two had Volk with final scores of 1-6 and 4-6.

The Cal Lutheran Kingsmen travel to take on UC Santa Cruz on Saturday, March 2, at 1 pm PST.
