PALM DESERT, Calif.— The Cal Lutheran Kingsmen traveled to College of the Desert, Sunday, to play the Willamette University Bearcats (Ore.), and brought home a 9-0 victory.
Starting with doubles play, freshman Aaron Moylan and senior Kylel Gillam took their first win at No. three doubles, winning their match 8-2.
Senior Yahn Gawrit and sophomore Isaiah Volk, No. one doubles, brought home another doubles victory for the pair, winning the match 8-3.
Senior Ransom Braaten and junior Jake Haffner, No. two doubles, only gave up one set to the Bearcats, winning their match 8-1.
Moving on to singles' play, freshman Hitachi Hu swept his first Kingsmen win at No. six singles, 6-0 and 6-0.
At No. five singles, Gillam won 6-0 and 6-1. Volk, at No. three singles, took another win, 6-1 and 6-0. Gawrit, No. one singles, added a victory, 6-1 and 6-4. Moylan, at No. four singles, took the win 6-0 and 6-4.
Haffner, at No. two singles, won his first set, 6-1, but fell just short in set two, loosing 7-6. Haffner was ready for the super tiebreaker, winning 10-2, and solidifying the overall sweep.
The Cal Lutheran Kingsmen face Hardin-Simmons, at home, Tuesday, March 12 at 1 PM PST.
