Kingsmen Heat Up Against Seagulls

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif.— The Cal Lutheran Kingsmen played against the visiting, Salisbury University Seagulls, and solidified a win after starting with singles play, and won 5-4.

Finishing the first match of the gloomy afternoon, was Guillaume Ruaud, No. four singles, taking a win 6-2 and 6-2. Next, freshman Aaron Moylan, No. six, continued his hot streak with a win of 6-3 and 6-4.

No. five singles, senior Michael Sulahian, fell the first match 7-5, but came back to win his next two matches 6-3 and 6-2. Senior Yahn Gawrit, No. one singles, defeats another ranked opponent, 6-4 and 7-5. Sophomore, Isaiah Volk, No. two, won his first match 6-4, but fell the next two, 6-4 and 6-3.

Junior Jake Haffner, No. three, added another win for the Kingsmen, 7-6 (2) and 6-4.

Haffner's single's win solidified the win for the Kingsmen on the day, before double's play had even begun.

This gave some other Kingsmen the opportunity to see the court.

Freshman Isaac Pashenkov and freshman Matthew Quade, No. two doubles, fell 8-4. Senior Florent Auteil and freshman Hitachi Hu, No. three spot, could not keep up with their opponents, and fell 8-1.

To round off the day, senior Kylel Gillam and freshman Ryan Murphy, No. one doubles, fell to their opponents 8-7 (5).

Head coach Mike Gennette spoke about the upcoming talent, "it was great to see them gain some valuable experience as they get ready to start in the future. We have a lot of talent brewing and looking forward to seeing some of these guys step into starter positions in the future."

The Cal Lutheran Kingsmen return tomorrow, Thursday, March 21, at home to face Principia (Ill.), at 10 am PST, and later at home, Puget Sound (Wash.) at 1 pm PST.
