ALISO VIEJO, Calif. — The 2018 All-Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) men's track & field teams were announced Wednesday and Chris Brodnax, Obasi Dees, Timmy Kahovec, Trent Mosley and Wendell O'Brien earned recognition after their performances at the SCIAC Championships.
Brodnax and Dees both earned two awards while Kahovec, Mosley and O'Brien each garnered one. Brodnax, Dees and Kahovec were All-SCIAC for their individual performances. Brodnax and Dees then combined with Mosley and O'Brien for All-SCIAC in the 4x100-meter relay.
A sophomore from Culver City, Calif., Brodnax runs sprints. He earned his first All-SCIAC honor as he competed in the 400-meter dash. He placed third as he finished with a time of 49.30 seconds. His part in the relay earned him two All-SCIAC honors.
Dees is a sophomore from Antioch, Calif., and competes in sprints. He earned his first All-SCIAC honor. He placed third in the 200-meter dash with a quick time of 21.90. Dees ran first for the relay team as he garnered his second All-SCIAC honor.
A senior from Saugus, Calif., Kahovec competes in middle distance for CLU. He earned his second All-SCIAC honor, with both being in the 800-meter run. This year, he placed third as he crossed the line with a time of 1:56.33.
Mosley is a junior from Sharon, Penn., and O'Brien is a senior from Bayside, N.Y. The duo raced the 4x100-meter relay with Brodnax and Dees and took second with a time of 41.91. The team broke into the CLU record books with the 10th fastest time in program history.
Pomona-Pitzer's Andy Reischling was named the Track Athlete of the Year, La Verne's TJ Randall is the Field Athlete of the Year, Redlands' Tucker Cargile earned Newcomer of the Year, Occidental's Ethan Vu received the Dixon Farmer Award and Pomona-Pitzer's Jordan Carpenter and his staff garnered Coaching Staff of the Year.
