Flores Finishes Top Ten; Kingsmen Send Three to SCIAC Championships Finals

REDLANDS, Calif. – Anthony Flores finished top ten in the hammer throw and three Cal Lutheran Kingsmen qualified for the finals after day one at the SCIAC Track & Field Championships. Timmy Kahovec and Obasi Dees lead the group with two qualifying events each.

Flores recorded a 41.61 meter mark in the hammer throw to finish sixth and pick up three points for the Kingsmen. Both the men's and women's track and field teams combined to earn 33 points for Cal Lutheran after 12 events on Friday afternoon.

Moving on to Saturday's finals, Kahovec qualified in the 800m and 1500m runs. He recorded a 1:57.40 run in the 800m to finish second in his heat and seventh overall in day one's prelims. In the 1500m, he finished first in his heat and second overall with a 4:06.50 run.

Dees qualified in both the 100m and 200m dashes. He ran a 10.78 in the 100m to finish first in his heat and third overall. He then ran a 21.83 in the 200m to once again finish first in his heat and second overall in the prelims.

Rounding out the trio, Chris Brodnax qualified for the 400m dash after running a 50.13. He finished second in his heat and seventh overall.

Day two's events kick off at 4 p.m. PST at Ashel Cunningham Track in Redlands, Calif.
