Kahovec Wins 1,500-Meter Run

LOS ANGELES — California Lutheran's Timmy Kahovec won the 1,500-meter run as the Kingsmen competed at the SCIAC Multi-Dual No. 3 at Bill Henry Track.

The Kingsmen competed against Occidental, Whittier, Chapman and La Verne. California Lutheran hosted the meet.

Kahovec led CLU with the event title as he finished the 1,500-meter run with a time of 4:02.28. He then turned around and placed second in the 800-meter run with 1:56.53.

Cal Lutheran also had seven Kingsmen place in the top-five. Chris Brodnax was third in the 400-meter run (50.03). He was also fifth in the high jump with a height of 1.80 meters.

Rigoberto Baza Carillo, Nikita Khromets and Anthony Flores all placed fourth. Carillo competed in the 1,500-meter run (4:14.60), Khromets ran the 5,000-meter (17:02.04) and Flores was fourth in the hammer throw (36.43). Zachary Sergey was fifth in the 5,000-meter run (17:17.71), Henry Friederichs was fifth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (10:32.41) and Corey Lee was fifth in the triple jump (10.82 meters).

CLU also had eight more top-10 places. Tyler Tvelia was sixth in the 1,500-meter run (4:15.92), Connor Neufeld-Griffin was seventh in the 800-meter run (2:02.24), Khromets was eight in the 400-meter hurdles (1:07.43), Anthony Flores was eighth in the discus (32.80), Jordan Wiley was ninth in the 110-meter hurdles (20.89), Flores was ninth in the shot put (10.05), Manuel Marquez was ninth in the javelin (28.21 meters) and Marquez was 10^th in the hammer throw (25.04).

Up next for the Kingsmen is the SCIAC Championships which will be held Friday and Saturday, April 27-28, in Redlands, Calif.
