Kahovec and Guidetti Notch Top-Five Finishes at Pomona-Pitzer Invite

CLAREMONT, Calif. — Timmy Kahovec and Kendall Guidetti led the Cal Lutheran Track & Field team Saturday at the 32nd Annual Pomona-Pitzer Invitational. The two recorded top-five finishes as nine other Kingsmen and Regals joined them in the top 25. 

Pomona-Pitzer's meet is open to levels from unaffiliated and paralympic athletes to Division I competitors.

Kahovec finished in fifth amongst 107 competitors in the men's 800m run with a time of 1:54.01. The run is fourth-best in program history and his second record-breaking performance as a Kingsmen. Kahovec recorded the second best time in school history last season of 1:52.25 at the SCIAC Track & Field Championships

Joining him at fifth, Guidetti marked 5.63m attempt in the women's long jump which is also fourth-best in program history. Guidetti currently holds the school record of 5.75m she recorded at last season's SCIAC Championships.

Morgan Snyder also notched two top-15 finishes in the women's javelin throw and triple jump. Her 32.56m javelin throw placed 12th and her 10.79m jump saw her to 15th.

Closely behind, Ana Cordoba finished 17th in the women's 100 meter dash at 12.39 seconds and Jordan Wiley finished 19th in the men's pole vault with a 3.75m jump. Anthony Flores's 37.99m men's hammer throw landed him at 20th.  

JaNarie Rhambo recorded two top-25 finishes of her own, landing 20th with a 10.87m mark in women's shot put and 21st with a 40.6m mark in the women's hammer throw.

Rounding out the top 25, Obasi Dees ran the men's 100 meter dash in 11.08 seconds to finish 22nd while Kaitlyn CochranAnna Schlosser and Alexandra Portis all locked in at 23rd. Cochran recorded a 39.71m throw in women's hammer, while Schlosser and Portis tied at 1.45m in the women's high jump. 

Both men's and women's teams head to Los Angeles this upcoming Saturday, April 14, for the third SCIAC Multi-Dual Meet of the season. Events are set to begin at 8:30 a.m. PST.
