New-Look Regals Set for 2019-20 Campaign

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif.– Maintaining a solid group of returners while adding some talented newcomers, California Lutheran University womens's swimming and diving team is set for the 2019-20 season with high expectations.

Head Coach Barry Schreifels returns for his second season at the helm of the swimming and diving program as he hopes to build upon the success achieved a year ago. He brings along two assistant coaches in their first year working in the Violet and Gold: Alex Card and Hayley Blaauw.

With 10 returners, the Regals possess a great amount of experience heading into the new season. They will provide leadership and insight to the seven newcomers joining the squad.

Starting with a strong senior class, Brianna Baldwin and Emily Glass will lead the team as they are both all-time program record holders. Baldwin holds the record in the 400-free relay while Glass was a part of the 400-medley relay team that set a program-best time.

Joining them in the senior class will be Emily Sharpe, Jamie Schultz and Jessica Van der Laan. This talented group of seniors will be the focal point of the squad.

In the returning junior class, Abby Hiller and McKenzie Kelly will add some invaluable depth to the Violet and Gold.

Returning for their sophomore seasons after impressive freshmen campaigns are Jaclyn Holtz, Brieyana Walton and Avery Conrad.

The newcomers will look to make an impact in their first season at Cal Lutheran, as Athena Alexander, Aubrey Blickman, Taylor Campbell, Kyrie Fairbairn, Eve Miyagishima, Madisyn Morin and Ivana Reyes begin their collegiate careers.

The Regals being their season Oct. 11-12 at the Malibu Invitational hosted by Pepperdine University, looking to start the new year on a high note.
