COMMERCE, Calif.— Three Regals moved up in the program's record book as the Cal Lutheran swim and dive team competed on day three at the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Championships.
After day three, the Regals are eighth with 192.5 points. The SCIAC Championships featured the 400-yard individual medley, 100-yard butterfly, 200-yard freestyle, 100-yard breaststroke, 100-yard backstroke and the 400-yard medley relay on Saturday.
"The women's relays were amazing and showed us the depth and talent of our team," said head coach Barry Schreifels. "Our top swim of the night was our very first race. Avery went for a lifetime best in the the prelims and with a really tough swim, bettered her time in the finals."
Emily Glass and Brieyana Walton advanced to the A final for the 100 breast and placed seventh and eighth, respectively. Glass posted a time of one minute and 7.51 seconds and Walton was right behind her with 1:07.61.
The duo of Avery Conrad and Aubrey Blickman took 13th in their respective event, both moving up on the all-time list. Conrad swam the 400 IM and recorded the fourth fastest time in program with 4:43.23. Blickman's time was eighth fastest with 1:09.45 in the 100 breast.
Rounding out the individual races was Brianna Baldwin and Emily Sharpe as they both finished 17th. Baldwin tied for 17th in the 100 fly with 1:00.20 and Sharpe recorded the seventh best time in program history for the 200 free with 1:58.02.
The relay of the night was the 400 medley relay. The top Regal team finished with 4:08.10, in eighth place, and was made up of Conrad, Glass, Baldwin and Sharpe.
The championships finish on Sunday with the top nine for the 1650-yard freestyle, 200 back, 100 free, 200 breast, 200 fly and the 400 free relay.
