Rivas' Career High 22 Saves Push Kingsmen to Win

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. — California Lutheran University men's water polo picked up their second win of the day with a hard fought 8-6 victory over the Spirit of Ottawa University (Arizona).

Ottawa came out to play an aggressive and physical game against the Kingsmen, racking up a number of exclusions, but also tallying the first two goals of the match.

The Kingsmen peppered the crossbar throughout the fist half, but were able to sight in their shooting enough to pull even at 4-4 on a Parker Jory penalty goal with 36 seconds left.

The second half saw Cal Lutheran's defense hold the Spirit to just two goals. Senior goal keeper Andre Rivas was spectacular during this run on his way to a career-best 22 saves.

Second half goals from Lincoln Hall, Cole Weiderman, and two from Ben Brown pushed the Kingsmen ahead to an 8-6 victory.

The team will be back at home for a their second meeting of the season with Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Wednesday at 4pm.
