PASADENA, Calif — California Lutheran University men's water polo held the No. 2 spot for the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Tournament, with just one game to go, as the Kingsmen handled the Caltech Beavers 22-12 on Wednesday night.

Cal Lutheran improved to 11-2 in conference and 21-4 overall. With the head-to-head matchup with No. 3 Whittier going to the Kingsmen, an 11-9 win back in November, Cal Lutheran would host a semifinals game in the SCIAC Tournament with a win in their final game.

The Kingsmen handled the Beavers from start to finish, jumping out to an early 4-1 lead at the end of the first quarter. Cal Lutheran opened up the lead in the second, outscoring Caltech 7-1, and took an 11-1 lead at the break. The rout was on throughout the second half as the Kingsmen won another conference game.

Leading the way for the Kingsmen was Ben Brown with four goals. Cormac Flanders and Taylor Garcia were next with three and Wyatt Lowe, Greg Olsen, Luke Matthies and Stephen Blaauw each had two. Olsen added a team-high four assists.

Defensively, Blaauw was everywhere and tallied four steals. Lincoln Hall added three steals and Lowe and Daniel Johnson both had two. In the cage was Johnson. He recorded nine saves and got the win.

The last game of the regular season is on Saturday. The Kingsmen host the La Verne Leopards at 11 a.m. for Senior Day.
