CLAREMONT, Calif. — The California Lutheran University men's water polo team went 2-0 on day two of the Gary Troyer Invitational as they improved to a 3-1 record for the weekend. The Kingsmen easily handled Penn. St-Behrend 26-4 and then defeated Ottawa (Ariz.) 15-4.

The Kingsmen moved to 11-2 on the year. They jump back into conference play on Wednesday and host Caltech at 4 p.m.

In the first game with Penn. St-Behrend, the Kingsmen shutout the Lions 7-0 in the first quarter, setting the tone. It was all the Purple and Gold needed as they coasted to a win.

Wyatt Lowe led the team with five goals, Justin Krause was next with a hat trick and Cole Weiderman, Justin Boals, Stephen Blaauw and Johnny Wotawa each added two.

The offense was putting on a clinic, totaling 17 assists. Dillon Goldsmith, Ben Brown and Krause each had three. Brown also impressed on defense securing five steals.

Daniel Johnson made his first collegiate start in the cage and made seven saves to go along with two assists.

In the second game, the Kingsmen were tested more, but still made the game look easy. They outscored the Spirit 7-2 in the first half as the rout was on.

Parker Jory and Goldsmith led the way with a hat trick each. Brown was all over the pool, totaling two goals, three assists and two steals.

Blaauw was strong in the water and forced the defense to commit five ejections. The Kingsmen scored off four of the five opportunities.

The Kingsmen look to carry this momentum back into conference play.
