MacKinnon Wins Two Events, Curtin and Sawyer Add One at SCIAC Multi-Dual #2

REDLANDS, Calif — Jake MacKinnon won two events and Cooper Curtin and Sebastian Sawyer claimed one more each as Cal Lutheran men's track & field competed at the SCIAC Multi-Dual #2 on Saturday afternoon. The Kingsmen took on beat Whiitier, but lost to La Verne. 

MacKinnon impressed in the throwing events. He took the hammer with 45.76 meters and the shot put with 13.94m. Curtin took the pole vault as he cleared 4.60m. Sawyer made it four wins and raced to first-place in the 3000 steeplechase with 9:53.50. 

The Kingsmen had two more athletes make the podium. MacKinnon was second in the discus with 36.94m and Xavier Reynoso was third in the 400 hurdles with 1:13.41. 

Cal Lutheran had three fourth-place finishes. Jonathan Aguilar, Max Segeberg, and the 1600 relay team just missed the podium. Aguilar recorded a time of 16:05.52 in the 5000 run and Segeberg clocked a time of 2:03.51 in the 800 run. The team of Matthew Crellin, Max Segeberg, Henry Mendoza, and Mateo Handall combined for a time of 3:38.42 in the 1600 relay. 

The Kingsmen competed in six more events. The top finishers for the events were Handall in the 400 dash (fifth, 52.13), Darrin Parham in the triple jump (fifth, 12.69m), Eric Talbert in the 1500 run (sixth, 4:05.73), Parham in the long jump (ninth, 5.81m), Handall in the 200 dash (14th, 23.22) and Josh Webster in the 100 dash (16th, 12.00). 

The Kingsmen and Regals showed out at the Multi-Dual #2 and combined for 28 personal bests. 

The Kingsmen continue the season with the Pomona-Pitzer All-Comers. The meet is set for Saturday at 9 a.m.
