MacKinnon Fourth in Two Events at Moorpark College Open

MOORPARK, Calif. — Jake MacKinnon led Cal Lutheran men's track & field with two fourth place finishes at the Moorpark College Open on Friday afternoon. 

It was the first meet of the season for the Kingsmen and MacKinnon was fourth in the hammer throw with 42.87 meters and the shot out with 13.20m. 

Bryan Bugni competed in the high jump and took sixth as he cleared 1.45m. Eric Talbert, Danny Johnson, MacKinnon, and the 4x400 meter relay team made it seven events in which the Kingsmen placed in the top 10.

Talbert was eighth in the 3000 meter run with eight minutes and 58.66 seconds and Johnson was ninth in the triple jump with 11.42m. Talbert's time was the sixth-fastest in the program record book. MacKinnon was 10th in the discus with 37.50m and Mateo Handall, Henry Mendoza, Darrin Parham and Max Segeberg combined to place 10th with 3:46.64.

Also competing with the top finish for the Kingsmen in their respective events was Johnson in the long jump (12th, 6.12m), Handall in the 300 meter dash (14th, 37.06), Lucas Weaver in the 60 meter dash (17th, 7.32) and George Gaitanis in the 1500 meter run (18th, 4:19.30).

The Kingsmen are back in action on Feb. 18th at the Pomona-Pitzer All-Comers. The meet starts at 10:30 a.m.
