Brewer, Nybo, Rodarte to Compete at NCAA Championships

GREENSBORO, N.C. –Ben Brewer, Andreas Nybo and Luke Rodarte will represent the Kingsmen of Cal Lutheran at the 2020 NCAA Division III Men's Swimming and Diving Championships held Mar. 18-21 at the Greensboro Aquatic Center in Greensboro, N.C.

"All three boys had a tremendous season and they were pushed to their success by every swimmer on the team, every day," said Head Coach Barry Schreifels. "The goal is to go to Greensboro and go even faster. We made adjustments this season to accomplish that."

Senior Ben Brewer will compete in two different events at the national meet. The San Francisco, Calif. native plans to continue his success in the 500-yard freestyle, 1,650-yard freestyle and the 400-yard IM. Brewer won the 1,650-free at the SCIAC Championships and broke a school record with his time of 15:29.53.

Earning SCIAC Swimmer of the Year honors was Andreas Nybo (Portola, Valley, Calif.). The junior will represent Cal Lutheran in the 200-yard IM, 200-yard butterfly and 100-yard butterfly at the NCAA Championships. Nybo enjoyed a fantastic 2020 campaign where he was victorious in the 200-fly at the SCIAC Championships. He shattered his own school record with his time of 1:47.49 and helped lead the Kingsmen to a third-place finish at the meet.

Accompanying Brewer and Nybo will be newcomer Luke Rodarte, hailing from Truckee, Calif. The junior burst onto the scene in his first year at Cal Lutheran, taking the SCIAC by storm in the 200-yard breaststroke. Rodarte will compete in the 100-breast and 200-breast at the national meet after taking gold in the 100-breast at the SCIAC Championships with his record-breaking time of 54.51.

A total of 236 swimmers will compete in the 2020 NCAA Division III Championships in the men's competition. NCAA.com will video stream all sessions of the championships.
