SCIAC Cancels All Conference Competitions

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif.– In response to the outbreak of COVID-19 (the novel coronavirus), and after full discussions with the conference Presidents, the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) has announced the indefinite suspension, effective March 16, of all spring regular season conference competition and conference championships.

Also as of today, NCAA President Mark Emmert and the Board of Governors canceled all remaining winter and spring NCAA Championships.

Cal Lutheran teams can compete in non-conference competitions as long as the total number of athletes and spectators is not more than 100.

In order to minimize the risk of COVID-19 within the Cal Lutheran community and surrounding area, the Office of the President has decided to begin transitioning to a social-distancing plan starting Friday with full implementation by Monday, March 16. While the campuses and centers are not in areas that have had community transmission of the virus, this will help reduce the chances of it occurring.

Through at least April 5, the following policies will be in effect for undergraduate and graduate programs on our Thousand Oaks campus and centers in Woodland Hills, Westlake Village, Oxnard and Santa Maria. PLTS will continue to follow social distancing policies established in conjunction with the Graduate Theological Union. Spring break will remain as scheduled from April 4 through 12. Plans for beyond April 6 will be communicated soon.
