Opara All-SCIAC Twice, Bjornson Adds All-Conference Accolade; Opara Jennifer Stary Award Winner

ALISO VIEJO, Calif. — Zaria Opara earned two All-Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) honors and Sarah Bjornson added one, the conference announced Wednesday morning.

All-SCIAC – Conference Release

Opara (Carnation, Wash.) went back-to-back in the hammer throw and claimed her second title in the shot put. She recorded marks of 49.17 meters in the hammer and 11.96m in the shot put and earned All-SCIAC twice. She has earned All-SCIAC honors four times in her career. 

Bjornson (Seattle, Wash.) won her second high jump title as she cleared 1.62m to earn All-SCIAC. She also won the event in 2021 giving her two All-SCIAC honors. Her mark put her third on the program's top-10 list and was also a personal best. 

The Regals have the APU Last Chance and the Redlands Final Qualifier as individuals try and qualify for the NCAA Championships.
