Cross, Redpath Set New Personal Records, Move Up on All-Time List

LOS ANGELES — Kayla Cross and Veronica Redpath both set new personal records and moved up on the program all-time list as the Regals track and field team competed at the Occidental Invitational on Saturday. 

The meet was held at Jack Kemp Stadium, on the campus of Oxy, and was the second to last event to try and qualify for the NCAA championships.

Cross cleared 3.25 meters in the pole vault, setting her new personal best, and is now tied for the third best mark in program history. In the event, she placed eighth, and it was one of three top-10 marks for the Violet and Gold. 

Redpath competed in the 3,000-meter steeplechase and her time of 11:59.66 moved her up to the fourth fastest in the record books. She placed 26th as she set her new personal best.

Alexa Barnes turned in two top-10 finishes on the day. In hammer throw, she tossed for a distance of 44.86 meters and took home seventh. The second event she competed in was the discus and she placed 10th with a mark of 40.51 meters. 

Megan PollockRachel Ereso and Caroline Slate also competed for the Regals. Pollock tied for 12th in the pole vault with a height of 2.95 meters while Ereso and Slate ran the 5,000-meter run and placed 79th with a time of 19:10.91 and 84th with 20:11.59, respectively.

The Regals have one final chance to qualify individuals and relay teams for the NCAA Championships and will head to the Redlands Final Qualifier on Wednesday and Thursday.
