REDLANDS, Calif. — The Cal Lutheran Regals shined on both the field and track events, Saturday, at the first SCIAC Multi Dual of the year against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, La Verne and Redlands. The team racked up a total of 18 top-five finishes led by top honors from junior Kayla Cross and senior Alexa Barnes

Cross claimed first in the pole vault, clearing 2.9 meters. At the same height, but with more attempts, junior Megan Pollock locked down second for the Regals as well.

Barnes followed with a 1-2-3 clean up on the day. She took first in the hammer throw (47.67 meters), second in the discus (35.79 meters) and third in the shotput (10.55 meters).

Rounding out the field events, senior Kelsey Rouse took second in the high jump, tying for first at 1.55 meters, but falling to tie-break rules. In the long jump, she tied junior Kendall Guidetti at 5.12 meters but fell to tie-break rules once again, Guidetti claiming third and Rouse fourth.

On the track, the women's 4x400 relay team – freshman Samantha Carranza, Rouse, freshman Denaya Wickett and junior Ana Cordoba – led with a second-place finish, crossing the line at 4:15.67. The 4x100 team also climbed into the top-three, finishing third (50.91 seconds) behind Guidetti, Rouse, senior Stephanie Williamson and Cordoba.

With two more third place finishes, Guidetti recorded a 13.13-second 100-meter dash and junior Rachel Ereso ran the 5000-meter race in 18:47.84 minutes (tenth best time in school history). Another highlight on the track, freshman Veronica Redpath notched the eighth best time in program history of 12:40.47 in her debut in the 3000-meter steeplechase.

Rounding out the afternoon, Cordoba finished fourth in the 200-meter dash (26.86 seconds), Rouse fourth in the 100-meter hurdles (16.14 seconds), Carranza fifth in the 400-meter dash (1:03.84) and senior Rebecca Kozlowski fifth in the 400-meter hurdles (1:17.09).
