ALISO VIEJO, Calif. — For the third time this season, senior Alexa Barnes was named the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women's field athlete of the week. She previously earned the honors on February 25 and March 18.
Barnes won two events for the Regals this weekend at the SCIAC Multi-Dual No. 2. She threw for 46.82 meters in the hammer throw, over five meters further than her runner-up, and later 36.05 meters in the discus throw. The senior also added a third-place finish in the shotput at 10.13 meters.
Overall, this is the second time the Olympia, Washington-native has won both the hammer and discus title this season, bringing her total to 10 top-three finishes in 2019 alone.
