Barnes, Guidetti & Rouse Earn All-SCIAC Honors

LAGUNA NIGUEL, Calif. — After leading the Cal Lutheran Regals at the 2019 SCIAC Championships, junior Kendall Guidetti and seniors Alexa Barnes and Kelsey Rouse earned all-conference honors, announced Tuesday, as one of the top three competitors in the conference in their respective events.

Guidetti earns conference accolades in the long jump and 100-meter dash. On day one, Guidetti claimed the long jump title for the third straight year with a personal-best 5.81-meter jump, breaking the program all-time record and beating her previous lifetime PR of 5.75 meters recorded at the 2017 SCIAC Championships. Her mark also improves her to No. 5 in the nation in the event. The following day, Guidetti made her way to the podium once again, this time for second in the 100-meter dash at 12.37 seconds.

Barnes joins her with two SCIAC honors in the discus and hammer throws. After taking second in last year's competition, Barnes made her way to the top of the podium in the discus throw this season. The three-time SCIAC Field Athlete of the Week threw for 41.80 meters, not only a lifetime PR, but also the third best mark in program history. The senior also took third in the hammer throw at 44.40 meters.

Rounding out the crew, Rouse earned an all-conference distinction in the high jump, as well as the Jennifer Stary Character Award for her accomplishments on and off the field. Moving up in the program's all-time list, Rouse cleared a lifetime-best 1.62 meters in the high jump to take second in the event and rise to third in Cal Lutheran's record books.
