Kingsmen Sweep Redlands, Whittier; Win Three Events

WHITTIER, Calif. — Cal Lutheran men's swimming & diving swept Redlands and Whittier on Saturday afternoon. The Kingsmen defeated the Bulldogs 131-130 and the Poets 147-103.

It was the final meet of the season which gave the Kingsmen momentum to head into the SCIAC Championships.

Cal Lutheran won three events as they took it to their competition. The team of Kyle Denson, Lincoln HallMarcel Hurtubise, and Joshua Nekoba won the 200-yard medley relay with a time of one minute and 36.54 seconds. Hall won the 100 breaststroke 59.40 and Denson claimed the 200 backstroke with 1:58.28.

The Kingsmen were runner-up in eight more events. Cole Weiderman took silver in the 1000 free with 9:53.89 and the 500 free with 4:50.71. Denson was second in the 100 back with 55.12, Nekoba was second in the 50 free with 21.43, Collin Spargur was second in the 100 free with 48.24, Hall was second in the 200 breast with 2:12.65, Hurtubise was second in the 100 fly with 53.29 and Caelan Jack was second in the 200 individual medley with 2:00.07.

Cal Lutheran made the podium for every event as Jack was third in the 200 free with 1:47.45, Zane Booth was third in the 200 fly with 2:04.94 and Weiderman, Logan Randall, Booth and Jack combined for third in the 800 free relay with 7:16.51.

The SCIAC Championships are Feb. 15-18.
