Kingsmen Claim Nine Events Against Panthers; Chapman Sneaks Out Win 143-136

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. — Cal Lutheran men's swimming and diving was outlasted by the Chapman Panthers 143-136 on Saturday afternoon.

The teams competed in the elements, and on top of each other, had to battle the rain. The Kingsmen made great efforts in terrible conditions.

Caelan Jack won three individual events and one relay as he led the Kingsmen. Jack took the 200-yard freestyle with one minute and 48.05 seconds, the 200 backstroke with 2:01.19 and the 200 individual medley with 2:01.05. Jack combined with Collin Spargur, Joshua Nekoba and Ethan Smith to win the 400 free relay with 3:18.19.

Lincoln Hall and Cole Weiderman both claimed two more events for the Kingsmen. Hall was first to the wall in the 100 and 200 breaststroke events with 1:00.96 and 2:17.32, respectively. Weiderman touched the wall first in the 100 free with 10:07.06 and the 500 free with 4:55.43.

Nekoba also claimed an event for the Kingsmen. He had blazing speed and made the top of the podium in the 50 free with 21.58.

Cal Lutheran was the runner-up in the 200-yard medley relay, 200 butterfly, 100 free and 100 fly.

The Kingsmen have two weeks off before their next competition. On Jan. 28, Cal Lutheran will host Claremont-Mudd-Scripps and La Verne at the Samuelson Aquatics Center.
