Kingsmen Record Four Marks on Top-10 List at Occidental Invite

LOS ANGELES — Cal Lutheran men's swimming and diving recorded four top-10 marks as the Kingsmen competed at the Occidental Invite. 

The meet was over Saturday and Sunday. The Kingsmen competed against a trio of SCIAC schools, Occidental, Caltech and Redlands.

The top-10 marks included Asher Steelman now sixth in the 200-yard butterfly with one minute and 57.76 seconds, Joshua Nekoba being seventh in the 50 free with 21.13, Sebi Petho being 10th in the 500 free with 4:52.48 and Jake Maher being 10th in the 200 breaststroke with 2:13.35.

On top of the fast times, Kyle Denson claimed an event. Denson had the lone win on the day for the Kingsmen as he took the 100 back with 53.00.  

Denson and Nekoba both placed third in one event. Denson was third in the 200 back with 1:54.37 and Nekoba was third in the 50 free. 

The Kingsmen placed top-five in six more events. The Kingsmen took fourth in the 200 medley relay and 400 free relay. Cal Lutheran was fifth in the 200 medley relay while Steelman was fifth in the 200 fly, Maher was fifth in the 200 breast and Joshua Blank was fifth in the 1,650 free with 17:58.27.  

This was the final meet of the fall for Cal Lutheran. They return to the pool on Jan. 7, at Pomona-Pitzer.
