Four Kingsmen Runner-up Versus CMS, La Verne; Kingsmen Celebrate Senior Day

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. — Cal Lutheran men's swim & dive hosted Claremont-Mudd-Scripps and La Verne for Senior Day on Saturday at the Samuelson Aquatics Center. The Kingsmen defeated La Verne 173-77, but fell to CMS 226-58.

Before the meet, Cal Lutheran honored their graduating class of Zane Booth, Marcel Hurtubise, Joshua Nekoba, Nathan Sellers, Collin Spargur and Cole Weiderman.

Weiderman, Kyle Denson, Lincoln Hall and Nekoba led Cal Lutheran with a runner-up finish. Weiderman was second in the 1,650-yard freestyle with 16 minutes and 16.80 seconds,  Denson was second in the 100 backstroke with 54.71, Hall was runner-up in the 100 breaststroke with 59.15, and Nekoba was second in the 50 free with 21.71.

The Kingsmen made the podium in seven more events. The team of Denson, Hall, Hurtubise and Nekoba were third in the 200 medley relay with 1:37.39, Caelen Jack was third in the 200 free with 1:46.65, Denson was third in the 200 back with 1:59.18, Hall was third in the 200 breast with 2:14.03, Weiderman was third in 400 individual medley with 4:23.59 and the 500 free with 4:54.03 and the team of Nathan Sellers, Spargur, Nekoba and Jack were third in the 400 free relay with 3:12.89.

More top finishers for the Kingsmen were Zane Booth in the 200 fly (sixth, 2:06.18), Spargur in the 100 free (fourth, 48.30) and Hurtubise in the 100 fly (fifth, 53.18).

The Kingsmen continue the season next Saturday at Whittier. Cal Lutheran will compete in a tri-meet with Whittier and Redlands.
