Kingsmen Fall to Whittier in Non-Conference Contest

WHITTIER, Calif. — The Cal Lutheran baseball team fell to Whittier College 8-2 in a non-conference contest on Tuesday afternoon.

The Kingsmen and Poets both had games cancelled earlier this season due to weather. The teams agreed on a non-conference contest to make up a game.

Cal Lutheran used eight pitchers and 13 position players as many Kingsmen saw action. Max Heverly and Jalen Parks provided the runs, but the Poets took advantage of the Kingsmen pitchers.

The Kingsmen scored first, in the top of the third. Parks walked with the bases loaded, scoring Heverly. The Poets fired right back, scoring two runs in the bottom of the inning. The Kingsmen tied the game in the sixth as a single from Heverly scored Ryan Farr. Whittier had the final say as a six-run eighth inning secured the win.

The Kingsmen jump back into conference play with their biggest series this season. La Verne is 11-1 in conference and Cal Lutheran is 13-2. The top two teams in the SCIAC start the conference on Friday at Cal Lutheran. First pitch is set for 3 p.m.
