Kingsmen Fall 6-3 to Bethesda in Monday Matinee

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. — Cal Lutheran baseball was defeated 6-3 by Bethesda University on Monday afternoon. 

The Kingsmen played the non-conference contest to split up the conference series that happen on the weekends. Cal Lutheran is 15-8 after the loss.  

The Kingsmen threw five pitchers. Cameron Cooper got the start and went 2.2 innings. He gave up five hits, and two earned runs, while striking out five. Gregory Pimentel was next and last 1.2 innings. He gave up three hits and two earned runs. Kyle Johns relieved Pimentel and went 2.2 innings. He struck out three, allowing just one hit and zero earned runs. Dean Olsson was the next man up. He went 1.0 inning and gave up three hits and an earned run. Clay Rickerman wrapped up the game and went 1.0 inning. He allowed one hit. 

Ryan Farr and Nathan Nykaza led the way with two hits. Nykaza had one RBI and Josh Quinn had a double. 

The Flames got on the board instantly and scored two runs in the first inning. The Kingsmen scored their first run in the second as a hit from Nolan Brooks saw an error from Bethesda. Farr raced home to score. 

Bethesda put more distance between the teams scoring runs in the fifth and one in the sixth. Cal Lutheran responded with two runs in the bottom of the sixth. Nykaza singled to left field, scoring Sebastian Smith, and Farr scored on a passed ball. The Fames got one run back in the eight and held on for the win. 

The Kingsmen return to action this Friday on the road. Cal Lutheran is at Caltech with first pitch set for 3 p.m.
