MONTEREY PARK, Calif. — Madi Bodhidatta, Faith Timney, Breann Bracken and Alice Peterson broke the school record, and were named All-SCIAC, in the 400-yard freestyle relay to lead Cal Lutheran women's swimming & diving on day four of the SCIAC Championships on Saturday night.
The team cruised past the old record of 3:33.33. Their new school record of 3:30.98 was a stunning performance as they took bronze and the All-SCIAC honor.
Over the four-day championships, the Regals broke and set many school and top-10 records. The Regals finished fifth with 359.5 points.
Kendall Moffitt just missed an All-SCIAC honor. She competed in the 1650 free and lowered her second fastest time in program history. She placed fourth with 17:36.47. She also competed in the A Final of the 200 butterfly. She came in eighth as she touched the wall in 2:12.43.
Bodhidatta and Peterson turned in two more top-eight performances for the Regals. Bodhidatta was sixth in the 100 free with 52.57 and Peterson was eighth in the 200 back with 2:10.70.
The Regals had five more athletes compete in the B Final of their events, with two more top-10 marks being set.
Tori Portillo placed 11th in the 200 breast, and recorded the seventh fastest time in program history, with 2:30.89. Timney was 13th in the 100 free, recorded the seventh fastest time, with 53.28.
Julia Benko competed in the 200 backstroke and tied for 13th with 2:12.19. Her time of 2:10.15 in the prelims was the sixth fastest in program history.
Nektaria Anagnostou and Alana Tamura also competed in B Fianls. Anagnostou was 13th in the 200 breaststroke with 2:31.32 and Tamura was 15th in the 200 fly with 2:16.88.
