Moffitt, Peterson Runner-up in Tri-Meet at Pomona-Pitzer

CLAREMONT, Calif. — Kendall Moffitt and Alice Peterson were both runner-up as they led Cal Lutheran women's swimming and diving at a tri-meet against Pomona-Pitzer and Trinity (Texas) on Saturday afternoon.

It was the first meet of 2023 for the Regals as they were on the campus of Pomona-Pitzer. 

Moffitt was second in the 1,000-yard freestyle and touched the wall with a quick time of 10 minutes and 56.98 seconds. Peterson was runner-up in the 200 free with 1:57.95.

Madi Bodhidatta turned in a third-place finish. She took bronze in the 100 free with 53.47.

Placing fourth for the Regals was Moffitt in the 200 butterfly with 2:14.21,  Maddie Greig in the 1-meter dive with 173.85 points and the 3-meter dive with 191.10, Tori Portillo in the 200 breast with 2:34.00, Bodhidatta in the 100 fly with 1:00 and the 200 free relay team of Peterson, Bodhidatta, Breann Bracken and Moffitt with 1:40.21. Portillo mark in the 200 breast improved her top-10 mark on the all-time list.

The Regals competed in eight more events. The top performers were the 400 medley relay team of Peterson, Portillo, Tamura and Bodhidatta (fifth, 4:06.83), Nektaria Anagnostou in the 400 individual medley (fifth, 4:59.92), Bracken in the 50 free (fifth, 25.51), Portillo in the 100 breaststroke (sixth, 1:11.23), Peterson in the 200 back (sixth, 2:15.61) Moffitt in the 500 free (5:31.09) and Julia Benko in the 100 back (eighth, 1:04.09).

The Regals are back in action next weekend as they host Chapman. The meet starts at 10:30 a.m. Saturday morning.
