Bonilla Takes Over Top Spot in Regals Loss

LOS ANGELES, Calif. – California Lutheran University women's Lacrosse travelled for an early morning matchup against the Tigers of Occidental College. The Tigers took the win 20-2 to stay ahead of Cal Lutheran in SCIAC standings.

Despite the loss, the Regals did have reason to celebrate a new career leader in goals and total points. In the ongoing contest for the top spot during the first full season of play for the Regals, sophomore Giselle Bonilla's 2 goals on the day pushed her into the top spot. Her totals have now reached 10 goals and 11 total points.

Occidental started the game quickly with 10 goals in the first quarter.

The second quarter saw the game begin to settle down with the Tigers scoring 5 goals and the Regals collecting their first from Bonilla on a free position shot.

Opening the second half with the score 15-1, the scoring pace continued to slow with just 3 goals in the quarter, all coming for Occidental.

The Regals opened the fourth quarter with Bonilla's second goal coming unassisted.

The Tigers scored two more in the quarter to finish the game with the score 20-2.

The Regals will be back at William Rolland Stadium looking for new highs and firsts against Redlands on Wednesday at 7:00pm.
