Regals fall to Redlands

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – California Lutheran University women's Lacrosse played host to the Bulldogs of the University of Redlands in a SCIAC matchup. The Regals' defense held for stretches, but the Bulldogs took the win 18-1.

The game was scoreless for the first 4 minutes and 42 seconds when Redlands managed to beat the Regal defense. The Bulldogs would carry the scoring for the rest of the quarter to finish the period with a 6-0 advantage.

The second quarter saw a similar outcome as the Bulldogs scored 6 more to enter half time up 12-0.

The Regals claimed the opening draw of the second half but struggled to apply consistent pressure on the offensive end.

Cal Lutheran's defense held strong in the third, giving up just 1 goal while down a man after a yellow card.

The defense held another 4 minutes into the fourth before Redlands was able to tally their 14th goal.

Down 14-0, freshman Megan Angus was able to score her 5th goal of the season on an assist from Giselle Bonilla to give the Regals some relief.

From there the Bulldogs were able to score the final 4 goals to finish the game with a score of 18-1.

A bright spot for the Regals was goal tender Cameron Mendez's 17 saves. She is currently leading the SCIAC with 97 saves on the season, 26 more than the next highest total.

The Regals are traveling to face another SCIAC opponent, Whittier on Wednesday at 7:00pm.
