Regals Set Scoring Records in Loss to Albion

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – California Lutheran Women's Lacrosse hosted the Britons of Albion College on Monday night. The Britons, who made the trek from Michigan, came away with the win while the Regals put up the highest goal total in program history in the 20-8 loss.

With Cal Lutheran history in mind, Freshman Emma Jobs' 5 goals tonight moved her into the lead in career goals for the Regals.

Tonight's game started quickly with Jobs driving straight to the net and beating the goalie for the first goal of the game just 13 seconds into the contest. This marked the first time that the Regals have scored first in a game. The Britons answered to tie the score before Jobs scored again to put the Regals up 2-1. The rest of the quarter belonged to the Britons who pulled ahead to finish the quarter 7-2.

The second quarter started with 3 Albion goals. Cal Lutheran stopped the momentum with freshman Sophie Benoit scoring the first goal of her collegiate career to make the score 10-3. Emma Jobs' third goal of the game was shortly followed by an Albion score and then another goal from Jobs to finish the half with an 11-5 score.

Cal Lutheran opened up the second half quickly as freshman Hena Koeberl scored on a feed from sophomore Giselle Bonilla. The Britons would answer with 3 goals before Emma Jobs would find the back of the net for the 5th time. Four more Albion goals would see the third quarter end 18-7.

The fourth quarter began with two more Albion goals. Cal Lutheran, who scored first in the game, would also score last as freshman Meghan Angus picked up her second goal of the season on an assist from Hena Koeberl. That goal led to the final score of 20-8 and a win for the Britons.

Cal Lutheran led the game in ground balls led by Jobs' with 4 while Clarissa Campos, Sirena Borja, and Malia Byun came away with 2 ground balls a piece.

The Regals will be on the road to face the Athenas of Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Wednesday at 7:00pm.
